I decided to take a look around Brebeuf while on a trip to Mont Tremblant and I am glad I did. It is very beautiful there with the Rouge river running under a bridge on highway 323 that creating spectacular views The area's sandstone is carved and eroded into amazing figures by the flow of the river. It is amazing.Also nearby off of highway 321 is a historic wooden covered bridge, pont prud'homme. The bridge spans over the Diablo River. What was a very common structure has become increasingly rare as the bridge's wood decays. The engineering design of the wooden covering is to protect the timber truss (frame) from the effects of the weather, making the bridge last from 20 years (without the cover) to over a hundred years (with the cover). The roof structure also provides additional structural strength by reinforcing and dispersing loads in the upper wooden frame.This bridge was constructed in 1911 so it is an older wooden bridge. Unfortunately the bridge is permanently closed for repairs.
